NEW DELHI: Vedanta (Rs 212.86 crore), Axis Bank (Rs 196.64 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 152.53 crore), Hindalco Industries (Rs 135.36 crore) and HDFC (Rs 117.69 crore) were among the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE in morning trade on Wednesday.
State Bank of India (Rs 113.84 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs 111.43 crore), BPCL (Rs 105.07 crore), Reliance Industries (Rs 102.31 crore), HPCL (Rs 95.06 crore), Infosys (Rs 92.16 crore) and ONGC (Rs 82.69 crore) were also among the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE.
Benchmark indices opened on a cautious note on Wednesday, despite firm cues from other Asian markets.
However, a fresh spell of selling in bank and FMCG stocks pulled the key equity indices down.
The NSE Nifty index was trading 36 points down at 10,366, while the BSE Sensex was down 110 points at 33,770 around 09:55 am (IST).
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 pack, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.
