Share market update: Metal shares dip; Hindalco Industries slumps 2%

NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading lower with the Nifty Metal index down 0.95 per cent at 3429.2 around 02:26 pm on Friday.

Shares of Hindalco Industries (down 2.32 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 1.80 per cent), JSW Steel (down 1.48 per cent) and Tata Steel (down 1.45 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

MOIL (down 1.36 per cent), National Aluminium Company (down 0.78 per cent), NMDC (down 0.49 per cent) and Welspun Corp (down 0.29 per cent) too were trading in the red.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 22.60 points at 10,575.8 while BSE Sensex was down 107.76 points at 35129.92 at that time.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 22 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Tata Motors, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, ITC, RIL, NHPC, Idea Cellular, HPCL, Infosys, Hindalco Inds.

and Indian Oil Corp were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
