Share market update: FMCG shares trade lower; Tata Global Beverages falls nearly 2%

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares were trading lower with the Nifty FMCG index down 0.43 per cent at 30,217.15 on Tuesday. Shares of Tata Global Beverages (down 1.84 per cent), ColgatePalmolive (India) (down 1.82 per cent), United Spirits (down 1.34 per cent)and Procter Gamble Hygiene Healthcare (down 1.21 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

Marico (down 0.89 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 0.64 per cent) and Godrej Consumer Products (down 0.53 per cent) too were trading in the red. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 26.60 points at 10,857.15 while BSE Sensex was down 136.71 points at 36,104.29.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Sun Pharma, Bank of Baroda, ICICI Bank, Idea Cellular, Ashok Leyland, Indiabulls Housing Finance, LT Fin Holding, Tata Motors, SBI, Hindalco Industries, Indian Oil Corp, Motherson Sumi, Infosys and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
