Lamki-Tikapur-Khakraula road upgradation sluggish

DHANGADI, DECEMBER 18The deadline for upgrading the road along Kailali's Lamki-Tikapur-Khakraula section is set to expire in a month.

However, progress report on the road seems to be minimal. Dhangadi Polytechnic Institute padlocked Repair all overhead bridges: DM Dangol Work to repair 29.7 kilometres road had started off by dividing the road section into three parts.

There is some progress on the first section.

But, progress is almost nil in the second and third sections. Ninety-five per cent of the time of the deadline is over.Sixty-five per cent work has been finished in the first section, while only 30 per cent progress has been reported in the second and third sections.

An agreement was signed to complete the work in 30 months.

Twenty-nine months have passed, but work progress is still sluggish.Looking at the progress made so far, there is no chance of finishing the work in a month.According to Postal Highway Project Office, Dhangadi Chief Sabin Joshi, the work will be finished in the first section in six months, while it will take one more year to finish the work in the second and third sections.Joshi said that his office had written to all three contractors to speed up the work and finish it at the earliest.Dinesh Malla of Kalika Kumar JV has signed the contract to repair the road in the first section.

"We will finish the work within six months," said Malla.Apex Khadka Krishna JV and Rayamajhi Galwa Jagadamba JV have signed the contract to construct and repair the road in the second and third sections.

Their progress is minimal.Civil Society Tikapur's Coordinator Bhimram Chapai said that non-completion of the road on time had given a lot of trouble to local people.He asked the local government to pay attention to the delay in construction and repair of the road.A version of this article appears in the print on December 19, 2022, of The Himalayan Times. .
