Blockchain-based storage service takes on Amazon AWS, unveils pricing

A cloud storage service first announced in 2015 that uses the decentralized, peer-to-peer architecture of blockchain to store encrypted data on the computers of users around the globe has unveiled its pricing model and production launch date.

Storj Labs, which operates a beta storage service for developers, businesses and consumers, initially launched the Tardigrade Decentralized Cloud Storage Service in August. Today, it announced its Beta 2 release and pricing, taking aim atAmazon's AWS S3 cloud service with what it says is a more cost-effective and resilient approach.

Microsoft releases Monthly Rollup previews for Win7, 8.1, Server 2008 SP2, 2012 and .Net

Just when you thought it was safe to relax a bit …

In the past couple of hours, Microsoft released a handful of Monthly Rollup previews and a smattering of similar, optional, updates. The list:

Win7 and Server 2008 R2KB 4525251— Monthly Rollup preview appears to cover the same ground as KB 2952664 and, later, KB 4507456. If thereanything included in the update other than more telemetry, Microsoft sure hasn&t told us. Herethe sole description in the KB article:

Up close with CastAway, the Chrome OS add-on for your phone

We've been talking for ages now about the intersection of Chrome OS and Android and the endless ways Google's two primary platforms work together.

For all of the overlap, though, Chrome OS and Android have never actually coexisted within the framework of a single device — living side by side on a multipart system, in other words, and acting as complementary halves of a unified experience. iPhone users: Do you love or loathe Quick Share in iOS 13?

I know lots of people who rely on iOS 13 and iPad OS for their business, but they aren&t necessarily getting much from using the QuickShare feature.

So why is it there?

Whatwrong with QuickShare?

QuickShare is that first row of names you see when you open up the Share pane from within almost any app in iOS 13.It is populated by the names of people you have most recently communicated with by Messages and nearby AirDrop shares.

However, the way the Share sheet works is that the far more useful Apps panel, which productivity workers are more likely to need is pushed down the screen, while the potentially even more useful scrolling Actions list is hardly visible at all & you have to scroll to get to it.
