Kathmandu, December 2
The Nepali Congress has said increase in its vote share in the by-polls held on Saturday and party success in wresting seats held by the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) was evidence of the people growing dissatisfaction with the government.
NC won one provincial assembly seat in Bhaktapur, the mayoral race in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City and a Ward Chair seat in Bharatpur metropolis which were earlier held by the ruling NCP.
NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma held a press conference today after the results of by-polls held for various posts of people representatives were announced and said the ruling party should take a lesson from the by-polls and improve governance or it would lose its relevance.
Sharma said although his party lost some seats in the by-polls, the party was happy about the gains it made in Bhaktapur, Dharan and Chitwan where seats were earlier held by the ruling NCP.
&Increase in our vote share is an indication that people have endorsed the decent role our party has played in the House,& he said, adding that the electoral success also showed that the confidence of the party had increased in the last two years.
He said his party would review the reasons that led to defeat in some seats which his party had held earlier.
