Share market update: Auto shares in the green; TVS Motor up 1%

NEW DELHI: Auto shares were trading in the green in Thursday's morning session. Shares of TVS Motor Company (up 1.43 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 1.26 per cent), Apollo Tyres (up 0.82 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.79 per cent) were the top gainers in the index. Ashok Leyland (up 0.64 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.62 per cent), Exide Industries (up 0.55 per cent) and Eicher Motors (up 0.36 per cent) too were trading higher.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.08 per cent up at 8222.05 around 09:51 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 48.35 points at 11,493.40 while the BSE Sensex was up 158.61 points at 38,291.49.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, LT Fin Holding, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company, SBI, DLF, BHEL, Tata Motors, NTPC, Ashok Leyland, Infosys, Bank of Baroda, Indian Oil Corp, Vedanta, ONGC and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
