NEW DELHI: Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) (up 2.56 per cent), Bharat Electronics (BEL) (up 2.53 per cent), AIA Engineering (up 2.25 per cent) and BEML (up 2.17 per cent) were trading in the positive territory, keeping the capital goods index up in afternoon trade on Friday.
The BSE Capital Goods index was trading 0.77 per cent up at 17,887 around 02:40 pm.
ABB India (up 1.39 per cent), SKF India (up 1.34 per cent), Carborundum Universal (up 1.24 per cent), Siemens (up 0.96 per cent), Suzlon Energy (up 0.84 per cent), Larsen Toubro (up 0.84 per cent) and Lakshmi Machine Works (up 0.83 per cent) too were trading with gains.
CG Power and Industrial Solutions (up 0.76 per cent), HEG (up 0.71 per cent), Sadbhav Engineering (up 0.67 per cent), Finolex Cables (up 0.36 per cent), Dilip Buildcon (up 0.33 per cent), V-Guard Industries (up 0.16 per cent) and NBCC (India) (up 0.13 per cent) too found themselves among the gainers.
However, Schaeffler India (down 1.40 per cent), Kalpataru Power Transmissions (down 1.39 per cent), Graphite India (down 1.03 per cent), Thermax (down 0.94 per cent), Elgi Equipments (down 0.49 per cent), Havells India (down 0.30 per cent) and GE TD India (down 0.20 per cent) were in the red around that time.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 343 points at 38,007, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 98 points at 11,483.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.
In the Sensex index, 22 stocks were advancing, while 9 were declining.
YES Bank, Vedanta and State Bank of India were leading among Sensex scrips.
